I'm choking on these words as I write them...
Stop joining in on the Whoopi bashing bandwagon.
Now before you click "unsubscribe" or "unfollow" because you now label me an antisemite, far-left loving Marxist, hear me out.
First off, let me state for the record...I cannot stomach Whoopi Goldberg. While she was epic in Ghost (long live Patrick Swayze and the love story of the century), I find her quite revolting. Loud, bossy, brash, ideological and dim-witted are terms that come to mind when I hear her name. The View is arguably one of the worst things to happen to daytime television, and the women's movement, considering it's ratings are fed by women, who are at home, without anything better to do with themselves at 11am, so by default aren't championing the cause of the women's empowerment movement. A show made up solely of women hosts, ogling their like-minded, far left, dreamy male actor and politician guests, talking over one another like a gaggle of geese, while profiting off of stay at home women, without lives, in the name of empowerment. Absolutely priceless humor.
The world would be a better place without these women speaking at all. But, do I want to cancel them? Certainly not.
Cancel culture is the modern day, adult version of "I'm telling my mom on you,' but with far greater consequences. People do not deserve to lose their jobs because they say things we don't like. People will inevitably say really stupid shit but that doesn't mean you get to destroy their reputations or livelihood. When are we going to allow people to make mistakes and move on? If we plan to judge everyone's entirety of character by ignorant things they've said, I hate to tell you but you're toast!
If an employer deems an employee's speech to be offensive enough to warrant reprimand, so be it. But that decision shouldn't be made in response to a mob mentality. If ABC wants to send Whoopi a message that she needs to think before she says truly heinous, down right ignorant things, that's their prerogative. But if YOU think people should be able to make mistakes and not lose their jobs for it, you had better step off this bandwagon.
My hope is this is a wake up call to people like Whoopi, her fellow cancellers, those on the so-called "right" and "left." We need to stop the childish, "I'm telling mom on you" bullshit. If you want freedom of speech to be patrolled by mobs, you had better be careful to whom you are farming out that duty. They inevitably will be coming for you one day. Do you really want people to only say what you agree with? Do you really want to hand over the power of controlling speech to people who share only one thing in common, political ideology?
I personally have faith in individuals to make decisions for themselves. Each of us are more than capable of deciding if we want to listen to the hens on The View, tune into Joe Rogan's podcast, or God forbid listen to music by Neil Young.
You're an adult. You don't need a mob to silence things that are hurting your snowflake ears. You either support cancel culture or you don't; you can't have it both ways.
Disclaimer: if I have offended you with this piece, I'm not sorry. I don't care and I also probably made you think. That's a win!
Your happiness is not a gift given to you by others.
Create a mantra for your life. If you aren't writing your story, someone else is writing it for you.

Hello my friends!
I'm finishing up the transition away from Locals onto Substack and wanted to be sure each of you have made the necessary adjustments to your accounts. For those of you who have remaining months left on your paid support here, I have comped you the balance over at Substack.
This will be the final week I post content here.
I will resume the live recordings over there, starting with our first call on Friday, March 3rd at 9am/12pm. Invitations to join the Zoom calls will go out on Substack. Mark your calendars!
Also, be sure to download the Substack App! I love the app and find it so helpful in organizing content I want to read later by keeping it on my dashboard.
See you on the other side!

One of the biggest challenges in writing my book is not being able to share any of it along the way. Given my narcissistic need for constant approval and attention, not having any feedback is killing me. Even negative attention is better than no attention at all (which explains a lot of my behavior in life), so not only am I missing the praise but I also miss my haters.
I need to break out of this cave. Thanks to Chuck Palahniuk who writes Spoiler Alert on Substack, but you would know as the author of Fight Club, I got the idea to share some excerpts and things that won’t make the final edit. This will give us both what we need. I get some attention and you get some thought provoking words to make you think (and possibly laugh, cry or both.)
Today’s snippet is from the first draft of a chapter titled, Remove Your Kindergarten Name Tag. I am currently on my third revision and we can all be thankful for this. As I walk my readers through the dark hallways of my earliest years, and attempt ...
Wanted to pass this short video along. We think of health in very limited ways. Faith, nature, love, communality, shared human experience…all prove to be just as necessary, if not more so, than going to the gym.
I’ve always viewed and taught health from this perspective. It is my belief the lack of these essential elements is as big an issue in our culture as poor diet and lack of movement.
The takeaway-we can do better🙏🏼
